| I was reading this article titled
"People are posting a lot less on public social
media: Creator economy investor says the old web is gone,
replaced by 'people who are professionally entertaining
you" It's the idea that no one post to just be
posting anymore, it's the notion that we all have to be
making content for content sakes. No one wants to use the
internet to just browse and have fun like the way the
internet use to be. Now it's about making money and if
you aren't making money or getting clicks then people
think there's no need to use the internet. That's..... just sad to think about. Some people only goals online is to make money instead of sharing their interest and forming a small fun community around that. You see that a lot in YouTube today. People who runs on that mindset of "grind grind grind" make content even if it means stealing others content, be fake and try to make as much money as possible and then you see those same people 4 years later are all burned out. It's because they didn't make any of that content for fun. |

And to think there's a whole
generation of kids who are growing up to think the
internet is for making money and that's it. Numbers has
to go up or else they get depressed. If they don't go
viral in a day they get depressed. Those who seek number
going up does crazier and crazier things to get that
attention and virality in hopes they can pull those
numbers to whatever stupid thing they are trying to sell
or settle of streaming so they can make money from going
viral. This isn't the internet I grew up with, This isn't
what the internet was made for. If this article has proved to me is that we need to escape the matrix that is the core web and modern social media as a whole. The engagement economy has ruined society and an entire generation of kids who have been brainrotted by it. We can't let the internet continue down this path because at this rate I see it being completely used up and dead by 2030.
